IEEE GHTC 2014 Announces Final Technical Program and Keynote Speakers

San Jose, CA – September 14, 2014 – The IEEE GHTC 2014 Program Committee today announced the final program for the IEEE Global Humanitarian Technology Conference being held in San Jose, California, October 10 to October 13, 2014. The full program can be found at www.ieeeghtc.org.

Keynote and invited speakers from around the world will address a broad range of topics related to health, education, disaster relief, water and agriculture, and other humanitarian concerns.

Catherine Nelson, GHTC 2014 Chair, said: “This year’s GHTC promises to be the best so far; we had very strong paper submission both in numbers and quality, and the selection committee’s task was a difficult one. I believe we have a commendable blend of early research and on-the-ground experiences being presented.”

GHTC 2014 features 127 papers, 28 “lightning” talks and 14 poster presentations, in five parallel tracks: Energy, Health, Disaster Connectivity & Communications, Humanitarian Challenges & Opportunities, and Water & Agriculture. Other sessions include a student paper contest, workshops and demonstrations. 300 attendees from 38 countries are expected.

Additionally, an international set of humanitarian technology practitioners with real stories and experience will be joining the conference will participate as featured speakers in keynote, plenary, and other program sessions. IEEE Global Humanitarian Technology Conference Issues 2014 Call for Papers

San Jose, CA – January 30, 2014 – Today the IEEE Global Humanitarian Technology Conference (GHTC) Steering Committee announced the Call For Papers for the 2014 Conference. It will take place in San Jose, California, USA, October 10th – 13th, 2014.

Organized by IEEE, the world’s largest technical professional society with over 400,000 members in over 160 countries, GHTC focuses on advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. This 4th annual cross-discipline conference provides the perfect venue for those interested in humanitarian projects to join their peers in Silicon Valley, a community famed for leading-edge technological innovations, world-class researchers, and technology investors. The conference attracts a global audience of educators, engineers, scientists, practitioners, educators, philanthropists, corporations, foundations, NGO’s and others interested in applying technology to develop effective solutions for the challenges facing the world’s underserved populations.
